Brazil Today from the Eyes of a Former U.S. Ambassador
The Scowcroft Institute of International Affairs at the Bush School of Government & Public Service at Texas A&M University invites you to join U.S. Ambassador Liliana Ayalde (Ret.) as she discusses “Brazil Today from the Eyes of a Former U.S. Ambassador” on Monday, February 13, 2023, at 5:30 PM CT at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center.
Drawing upon her distinguished 38-year career, U.S. Ambassador Liliana Ayalde (Ret.) will discuss the recent elections in Brazil and careers in development and diplomacy.
The Worker’s Party won the general elections and elected Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva as President of Brazil in October 2022. This shift from the Liberal Party’s domain from the last three years will have broader implications on a global scale.
The Workers’ Party is defined as “a center-left to left-wing political party in Brazil. Some scholars classify its ideology in the 21st century as social democracy, with the party shifting from a broadly socialist ideology in the 1990s.”
This is a hybrid event and will be available online via Zoom or in-person.
